DONNA J. UPDYKE
Donna Joy Updyke,
age 88, formerly of Farwell and Harrison, passed away on Friday,
December 14, 2007 at the Laurels of Mt. Pleasant, in Mt. Pleasant,
Michigan. She was born the daughter of John and Belle (Gilbert) Dexter
on February 11, 1919 in Alma, Michigan. On December 06, 1946, she was
united in marriage to Grover J. Updyke in Harrison, Michigan. She had
also worked as a quality control inspector in the manufacturing industry
for many years. In her spare time, she was a member of the Lake George
Booster's Club of Lake George, Michigan and the Women of the Moose Lodge
#2235 of Harrison, Michigan. She also enjoyed: quilting, crocheting, and
playing Bingo with her friends. She had lived in the Harrison area since
1983 where she had moved from the Farwell area.
Donna is survived by her husband, Grover J. Updyke, of Harrison;
her sons: Eugene (Sue) Blackledge of Harrison, Donald (Joyce) Blackledge
of Costa Mesa, California, Gary (Diane) Updyke of Sunfield, Michigan,
Duane (Elaine) Updyke also of Harrison, and Michael (Marilyn) Updyke of
Farwell, Michigan; her two daughters, JoAnn (Donald) Heintz of Harrison,
Michigan and Mickey (Gary) Anderson of Montrose, Michigan; twenty-one
grandchildren, twenty-six great-children, and fifteen great-great-
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her three
brothers, Leonard, Alva, and Ray Dexter; her two sisters, Rettie Moffit
and Opal Curtiss, her grandson, James Blackledge, and her great-great
grandson, Levi C. Heintz.
In keeping with Donna's wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial
services will take place on Saturday, December 22, 2007 at 11:00 a.m.

JUDY WALTERS
Judy Walters 58 of Harrison, passed
away Sunday, December 9, 2007 at her home. Judy was born January 25,
1949 in Madison Heights, Michigan, the daughter of Bert and June (Sereda)
Walters. Judy had resided in Harrison since 1979, coming from Clawson,
Michigan. Judy was united in marriage to Joseph Grantham on February 24,
1991 in Harrison.
Mrs. Walters had worked for Glens Markets formerly Ashcrafts of
Harrison as an assistant manager for over ten years. Judy also was
employed with Stryker’s Lakeside Marina of Edenville, Michigan and
Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison. She volunteered many hours with Big
Brothers Big Sisters of Clare County. Judy had a great love for people,
cooking and baking, caring for her birds and taking care of her family.
Surviving is her husband, Joseph “Joe” Grantham of Harrison, one
daughter, Kelley Hawley and husband Don also of Harrison, one
step-daughter, Ramae Lewis and husband Eldon Lewis II also of Harrison,
parents, Bert and June Walters of Troy, Michigan, three brothers: Bert
Walters Jr. and wife Betty of Ferndale, Ronald Walters of Michigan and
Alan Walters of Troy, Michigan, one sister, Sharon Mitchell and husband
Clint of Troy, five grandchildren: Krista and Aaron Hawley, Savannah
Moran, Maggie Lewis and Eldon Lewis III, plus numerous nieces and
nephews. Judy was preceded in death by her two sons: Tommy and Ronnie
Dygert.
Celebration of Life services for Judy was held Friday, December 14,
2007 at 11:00 a.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, with Pastors
Lee Palmer and Chuck Malson officiating. Burial took place at Maple
Grove Cemetery, Harrison. Memorial contributions in memory of Judy may
be considered to: Big Brothers Big Sisters of Clare County or Pardee

JOHN DOUGLAS ALTZ

John Douglas Altz, 67 of Harrison
(formerly of Dryden), passed away at the Mid Michigan Medical Center,
Midland, Michigan on December 10, 2007. John was born July 2, 1940 in
Utica, Michigan.
Veteran of the US Navy serving in Beruit and “The Bay of Pigs”. He
worked as a Mill Wright for Ford Motor Company plant #18 in Sterling
Heights until his retirement in 2004, and former iron worker for Local
#25. John was a member of the VFW post in Disco, The Moose Lodge, The
Eagles and the American Legion in Harrison. The North Oakland Elks and
the Mason’s of Almont and Dryden.
Surviving are his children: John (Renee) Jr., and Michael
(Jennifer), 2 grandchildren; Jessica and Justin and father; Carl
(Theresa), siblings: Carl (Shirley), Bill (Peggy), Hattie (Chris)
Rickert. John was predeceased by his mother; Jean Jessie Brown (Renwick).
Services were Friday, December 14, 2007 at 11am at the Gramer
Funeral Home, Diener Chapel 48271 Van Dyke (South of 22) Shelby Twp.,
MI. Burial will be at the Utica Cemetery.

DONALD B. DAVIS
Donald B. Davis,
72, of Lakeland, Florida passed away December 17, 2007.
Don was born in Harrison, Michigan on August 3, 1935 to Lelone Bert
Davis and Evelyn Grace (Barlow) Davis.
Don is survived by his wife Ruth (Hitchcock) Davis, his children;
Sharon, Vickie (Don), Donald, Mary (Mike) Douglas (Lynn), David Scott,
Daniel (Renee). His stepchildren; Lawrence, Mitchell (Laurel), Cheryl
(Marc); brothers; Charles (Gay), Leland (Lynn) and sister Hazel
(George). Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Don was preceeded in death by his father, mother, brother Richard,
his sons Dennis Bert and Gregory Frank, and granddaughter Rebecca Joann.
Don and Ruth spent summers in Houghton Lake, MI and winters in
Lakeland, FL. They loved traveling in their RV, taking pictures of
beautiful landscapes and points of interest.
Don could always be found tinkering on a special vehicle in the garage
or yard.
He will truly be missed by many.
There will be a gathering of friends on Saturday, December 29 at
Greenwood Township Hall, Harrison from noon-2pm.

PAIGE ELIZABETH ALEXANDER
Paige Elizabeth
Alexander, 2, of Prudenville, passed away on Wednesday December 19,
2007 at Mid Michigan Regional Health Care Center in Clare.
Paige was born on February 7, 2005 in Grayling, Michigan to Earl
Alexander and Michelle Howard. She attended the PPI classroom at
Houghton Lake Community Schools. She brought a ray of sunshine and
brightness into everyone who met her.
Surviving Paige are her parents Earl and Michelle; Grandmother
Cindy and Cam; Grandparents, Lora and Ray Keller, Sister, Danielle,
Brother, Jacob; Great Grandparents, Burton Reed and Harriet Keller;
Guardians; Crystal and Doug, many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and Friends;
Funeral services for Paige Elizabeth Alexander will be conducted at
2:00PM, Sunday December 23, 2007 at Christler Funeral Home, Houghton
Lake Chapel with Rev. Doug Lauer Officiating. Interment will be in
Roscommon Twp. Cemetery. There will be visiting on Sunday, December 23,
2007 from 1:00PM until the time of the service at 2:00PM. Those wishing
