RUSSELL FORD HARPSTER
1945 ~ 2009
Russell Ford Harpster,
63, of rural Surrey Township, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2009 after a
long illness. Mr. Harpster was born July 30, 1945 in Clare, Michigan,
the son of Alfred and Irene (VanAlstine) Harpster. Russell had resided
in Surrey Township since 2000, coming from Elsie, Michigan.
Mr. Harpster retired from General Motors Corporation in 1998 after
thirty-two years of service. After his retirement, Russell spent many
years transporting members of the Amish Community. In his free time,
Russell enjoyed hunting, fishing and plowing snow.
Surviving are his loving children: one son, Don Harpster and wife Becky
of Lake, Michigan, three daughters: Tammy Harpster of Mt. Pleasant,
Michigan, Mary Seiler and husband John of Lansing, Michigan and Patrice
Bolog and husband Rick of Milan, Michigan, one brother, Lyle Harpster of
Clare, three sisters: Marge Greusbeck and husband Red of Ovid, Michigan,
Martha Watson and husband Greg of Auburn, Michigan and Alma Farison of
Beaverton, Michigan, twelve grandchildren, plus numerous nieces and
nephews. Mr. Harpster was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services for Mr. Harpster were held Friday, July 31, 2009
at 11:00 a.m., from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, with Pastor Robin
A. Riggs officiating. Burial is in the Cherry Grove Cemetery, Clare.

JOSEPH JOHN BAILEY
OCTOBER 18, 1946 ~ AUGUST 6, 2009
Joseph John "Joe"
Bailey, 62, of Harrison, passed away Thursday, August 6, 2009 at his
home, after a long illness. Mr. Bailey was born October 18, 1946 in
Harrison, the son of Merton and Esther (Gilkerson) Bailey. Mr. Bailey
served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Joe
was a lifelong resident of the Harrison area.
Mr. Bailey worked several years in the pipeline as a laborer and
also was employed for several years with the Steelcase Corporation. Joe
enjoyed fishing and hunting, was a loyal fan of the Detroit Lions and
cherished the time he spent with his family.
Surviving are his three daughters: Tammy Leiter of Lowell,
Michigan, Wendy Bailey of Harrison and Amy Straub of Grand Rapids,
Michigan, two brothers: Merle Bailey and wife Beth of Harrison and Paul
Bailey of Harrison, two sisters: Millie Davis and husband Keith of
Harrison and Margaret McKeever of Harrison, nine grandchildren: William
Leiter, Eric Leiter, Melinda Wallace, Nicole Wallace, Kendra McBride,
Noah Sutherland, Tyler McBride, Emily Straub and Anthony Straub, one
great grandson, Austin Leiter, plus numerous nieces and nephews. Mr.
Bailey was preceded in death by his parents, a half sister, Mary Belle
Bishop and one granddaughter, Angel Sutherland.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service was held Saturday, August 7,
2009 at 10:00 am from the Community of Christ Church, Harrison with
Priest Joyce Beemer officiating. Memorial contributions in memory of Mr.

BRYONNA COSNOWSKI
Bryonna Marie
Cosnowski, age 6 months 27 days, passed away July 27, 2009 at
Spectrum Health Butterworth, Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was born on
January 1, 2009 in Clare, Michigan, the daughter of Theodore Chester
Cosnowski III and Jessica Daniell Musser.
She is survived by her parents, Theodore III and Jessica, two
brothers, Jessie Cosnowski and James Musser, maternal grandparents, Jeff
and Yolanda Laughter of Harrison, Michigan, paternal grandparents,
Theodore II and Deborah Cosnowski of Howard City, Michigan, four aunts
and two uncles.
Funeral services for Bryonna were held on Thursday, July 30, 2009
at 1:00 p.m. from the Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison, with Pastor Tim
Tanner officiating. Burial is in the Lincoln Township Cemetery, Lake

MARION L. MIELE
August 19, 1931 ~ July 27, 2009
Marion L. Miele, 77, passed away on
Monday, July 27, 2009 in White Lake, Michigan. She was born in Bath
Township, Michigan, on August 19, 1931, to Edward and Anna Blovet. She
married Anthony A. Miele on February 2, 1957, in Detroit, Michigan. She
lived in Harrison from 1977 until 2003. She was a member of St.
Athanasius church.
Marion is survived by her daughter, Toni (Robert) Lobert, son,
Kevin (Lynn) Miele, daughter, Marion (Harold) Christiansen, her brother,
William Blovet, sister, Evelyn Hewitt, seven grandchildren and three
great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Anthony
(March 19, 1999), daughter Patricia, her parents, and sixteen brothers
and sisters.
Visitation was held July 29, 2009 from 6-9 pm at the Stocking
Funeral Home, Harrison. Funeral Mass was held on Thursday, July 30, 2009
at 11:00 am at the St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Harrison. She was
laid to rest at St. Athanasius Cemetery, Harrison, MI. Memorial
contributions may be made to Hospice of Michigan.

NORMA JEAN METZER
FEBRUARY 23, 1960 ~ AUGUST 5, 2009

Norma Jean Metzer, 49, of Harrison,
passed away Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at Butterworth Hospital, Grand
Rapids, Michigan. Norma was born February 23, 1960 in Yale, Michigan,
the daughter of Roy J. and Joyce Ida (Klug) Metzer. Norma had resided in
Harrison since 1975, coming from Capac, Michigan.
Norma was the current manager of Harrison Shell Gas Station with
twelve years of service. She was an avid collector of M&M memorabilia,
enjoyed playing Bingo and loved listening to country music.
Surviving are her loving children, two daughters: Laura Ann Davis
of Tustin, Michigan, Jamie Lynn Metzer of Michigan, two sons: Dennis
James Metzer of Harrison and Alan Roy Bemrose of Tustin, eight
grandchildren: Seth Davis, Matthew Yankee, Connor Bemrose, Tristin,
Sierra and Damon (Moore) Dunlop and Andon Metzer and Kassidy Kay Metzer-Montano,
her boyfriend, Mr. Barry Labadie of Harrison, the father of her
children, James William Bemrose of Wilson, Michigan, one sister, Linda
Murphy and husband Ron, three brothers, Gary, Glenn and Keith Metzer,
plus many nieces and nephews. Norma was preceded in death by her parents
and two brothers: Alan and Ronald Metzer.
A Celebration of Life Service for Ms. Metzer was held Friday,
August 7, 2009 at 12:00 p.m. from Stocking Funeral Home, Harrison with

DIXIE DARLENE SANDERS
Dixie Darlene Butler Sanders made her
transition August 8th surrounded by her family.
Dixie leaves to cherish her humorous loving spirit, her husband of
51 years, Dave Sanders, three children Brenda (Chuck Perry), Brian
Sanders (Diane), Cheryl (Dave Girvan) and 6 "Grand" children, Jaime,
Chaz, Matt, Mitch, Kyle and Mark. The youngest of 6 children, Dixie was
predeceased by 4 dear sisters and is survived by a brother, Clifton
(Billy) Butler, five sister-in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
Together Dixie and Dave taught their children and grandchildren the
value of unconditional love. After retirement, they moved to their
lakefront property in Harrison where Dixie loved to gather daily with
her friends at a local coffee shop. Above all else, she took great pride
and delight in her family. Her children and grandchildren will cherish
always the love and individual attention Dixie bestowed upon them.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service is scheduled for
Monday, August 17, 11:00 am at the Masonic Pathways Chapel, 1200 Wright
