Mary Anne Stewart age 87 of Gladwin, Michigan passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at The Brook of Gladwin. Mary Anne was born March 9, 1937, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Wendall and Mary (Tilli) Vespek. Mary Anne was united in marriage to Mr. William “Bill” H. Stewart on April 23, 1955, in Detroit, Michigan. Mrs. Stewart had resided in Harrison since 1996, moving from Warren, Michigan. Mary Anne was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Harrison, past member of Women of the Mosse Lodge #2235, Harrison and past member of Red Hat Society of Harrison and Long Lake groups.
Mrs. Stewart loved her family and was passionate about time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved golfing, bowling, floral gardening, reading and most importantly, keeping her husband Bill in check.
Surviving Mrs. Stewart is her loving husband of sixty-nine years, Mr. William “Bill” H. Stewart of Gladwin, Michigan, they were blessed with seven children; William J. Stewart (pre-deceased) and wife Leahan of Waterford, Michigan, Rosemarie Fagan and husband John of Fraser, Michigan, Cynthia Stewart of Harrison, Michigan, Joyce Stewart of Phoenix, Arizona, Steven Stewart and wife DeAnna of New Baltimore, Michigan, Kenneth Stewart and wife Kelley of Asheboro, North Carolina and Katherine Mitchell of Mesa, Arizona. Also surviving are Fifteen grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, plus three great-grandbabies arriving soon. Three sisters; Nancy Pettit of Richardson, Texas, Suzanne Kaiser of Luzerne, Michigan, and Anne Marie Nunnimaker and husband Ray of Warren, Michigan, plus many nieces, nephews, and extended family. Mary Anne was preceded in death by her parents.
A Memorial Mass celebrating Mary Anne will be held Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. from St. Athanasius Catholic Church, 310 S. Broad Street, Harrison, with Monsignor Francis B. Koper officiating. A time of gathering and sharing of memories will take place on Thursday, May 9, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
